Buying Guide – How to Choose the Best 3DS Xl Case
Choosing the right case depends on your specific console model and whether you prioritize body protection or full travel storage.
Model Compatibility
Verify your console version carefully as cases for Original 3DS XL will not fit New 3DS XL models. Check product details for compatibility notes before purchase to avoid returns.
Always confirm your model matches the case description to ensure proper fit and functionality.
Hard Shell vs Carrying Case
Hard shell cases offer slim protection for daily use without bulk while carrying cases provide storage for games and accessories. Decide based on your typical usage habits and portability needs.
Use hard shells for active gaming and carrying cases for travel or storage.
Screen Protection
Some packages include soft screen protectors but most do not. If screen safety is a priority look for bundles with film or plan to purchase separate tempered glass covers.
Screen protection adds a layer of safety for touch sensitive displays during active play.
Material Durability
Plastic hard shells resist scratches and impacts while PU leather carrying cases add softness and cushioning. Consider the typical hazards your console faces to pick the right material.
Durable materials extend the life of your console by reducing exposure to damage.
Button Cutouts
Proper cutouts ensure all buttons and ports remain accessible without removing the case. Look for reviews that confirm cutouts align well with controls to avoid frustration.
Well placed cutouts are essential for uninterrupted gameplay and full console functionality.
Storage Capacity
Carrying cases with cartridge slots let you carry games without separate bags while hard shells do not offer storage. Choose storage capacity based on how many titles you carry.
Internal storage helps keep your games and accessories organized and secure during transport.
Portability and Weight
Lightweight cases add minimal bulk to handheld play while carrying cases add weight for better protection. Balance comfort with the level of protection your lifestyle requires.
Consider where you game most to decide if weight or storage is more important.
Design and Transparency
Clear cases showcase your console color but may show fingerprints while colored or opaque options hide wear better. Think about aesthetics versus maintenance when picking a style.
Transparency enhances the look of your console but requires regular cleaning to stay clear.
How to Use and Care for Your 3DS Xl Case
For hard shell cases snap them onto the console gently ensuring all edges align with the body. Avoid forcing parts together to prevent cracking the plastic over time.
When using carrying cases place the console inside the inner pouch first then close the zipper securely. This prevents the console from shifting and scratching during movement or travel.
Clean cases regularly with a soft cloth to remove dust and fingerprints. Remove the case occasionally to wipe the console body directly keeping it hygienic and functional.
